Learn more about the conditions we see

At First Step Therapy Services, we work with babies and children to help them safely get back to their most optimal condition to flourish and progress.

A Paediatric Physiotherapist is the person you approach if you have any concerns about your child’s physical development. Our Physiotherapists are trained in global development including milestones, sensory-motor development, movement, and play skills. We are trained to identify normal and not normal behavior and movements at every age, and every stage of development until they become adults. Our team is qualified to assess, diagnose/ identify, and provide intervention for any developmental, orthopedic, neurological, or genetic difficulties your child may be experiencing.

We treat babies as young as 2 weeks old, to teen adults up to 18 years old; so, if you have any concerns with your child’s physical health, please contact us. We are here to help!

Children are not just little adults. Their bones, muscles, lungs, nerves, brain, and sensory systems are growing, and learning quickly through experiences in their environment. The neuroplasticity of the brain and the repetition of correct movements embed the newly learned skills and help them reach their potential. Paediatric Physiotherapists have an expert understanding of this knowledge and can differentiate between normal and not normal development.

Once assessed and identified the problem, we at First Step Therapy Services work holistically to develop activity and play programs for a child and his family. We discuss functional goals and work out practical ways to achieve these goals. We work in alliance with other allied health and medical practitioners to enhance the health and well-being of children and maximize their participation in everyday activities.
